House manual

Schneehaus  House”  Manual

Before your arrival we will provide you with a numerical house code for your particular stay.  The codes are changed after each stay for safety purposes.

1)      At the entry door you will see a key box on the door handle. Use the numerical code to get the key.

2)      You are entering the house through the mudroom and ski storage area.   Once inside a second house key will be left on the kitchen island.  Additional keys are available upon request.

3)      There are two parking spaces in front of the house.  The third space belongs to the neighbor and is not available for use.  In the winter time, it is recommended that you have a four-wheel drive vehicle to get to the house.   Park two wheel drive vehicles in the parking lot of the ski resort and get a ride if you can’t make it.

4)      There is a large trash can in the wood room provided for your convenience.  Keep your trash in tied bags in the bin.  The management will dispose of the garbage when you check out.

5)      Please do not wear wet ski boots in the house.  Please remove them in the mud room, however you may put them in front of the wood stove to dry, but please place a towel on the floor before doing so.

6)      This is a non-smoking house. This applies to the decks as well as the interior areas.

7)      Pets are not allowed in the house.

8)      Kitchen:  The kitchen is well equipped.  If you are cooking on the cooktop and using the microwave at the same time, you will need to turn the vent fan on.  Failure to do so will cause the internal breaker in the microwave to trip.  If this happens, simply unplug the microwave, allow a minute for it to reset, and then plug it back in.  Also, please make sure the coffee pot is off when you leave the house.

9)      Wood Stove:  Instructions for starting a fire in the wood stove are located near the stove.  Wood is provided for the wood stove.  If you use all the wood provided in the house, there is additional wood in the wood storage room.  WARNING:  Do not place anything on top of the wood stove i.e. gloves, towels, boots.  They will melt and catch on fire.  The wood stove on the lower level should not be used, especially if children are playing on this level.  The cast iron of these stoves get very hot.

10)  It is recommended to use a small amount of toilet paper when using the toilets, because we are on a septic system and the toilets plug easily.

11)  Please do not flush diapers or feminine hygiene items for the same reasons.

12)  If you do not follow these last two instructions carefully, you will need the “toilet plunger” located near the toilets.

13)  The hot tub is provided for your enjoyment.  Limit the number inside the hot tub to 4 persons, otherwise the water will overflow. If you plan to use it, adjust the temperature for your needs. Please leave the cover on when not in use.  Do not bring glass items around the hot tub.  Plastic glasses are provided for this purpose.

14)  A gas barbecue is stored on the deck for your enjoyment. The instruction manual for the grill is located in the far left drawer in the kitchen.

15)  After the house is brought to a desired temperature, we recommend that all thermostats are kept at 60-65 degrees.  Please note there are fans in the second floor bedrooms to draw the heat in generated by the wood stove.

16)  Water conservation has become more important than ever. In an effort to help conserve the precious water supply, we offer the following suggestions: take brief showers; fill bath tub only half full; turn off water while brushing teeth; turn off water while shaving.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these efforts.

17)  Please leave your skis in the mud room.  Please do not use hot wax for your skis in the house.  Please do not walk in the house with your ski boots.

18)  There is an apartment size washer and dryer for your use.  Detergent and dryer sheets are provided for your convenience and are located in the vanity of the bathroom.

19)  A list of local and emergency telephone numbers is located near the phone, along with the local phone book.  The phone is for local calls only. A first aid kit is located in the cabinet above the refrigerator.

20)  Absolutely no parties or overnight guests are permitted at Schneehaus.

Thank you very much. Enjoy your stay and please share this information with the members of your party.
